Thankfully I needn’t force either of these lovelies to grow. They both emerge quite nicely on their own year after year.

Coax from the earth

or rather, gently persuade
with a bit of rain, a sprinkle of poop

and daily attention, even just a

prolonged, easy gaze.
Gardens require intuition

not obsession.



A hopeful spring word.

Word of the day = cotyledon

According to Science Daily, “Upon germination, the cotyledon usually becomes the embryonic first leaves of a seedling.”

ImageAll I know is these little guys give me hope for spring and warmth and the gloriousness of growth when they pop up in my egg carton trays of seed starts.  Plus it’s a pretty fun word to say 🙂
